Puppet Head

Inspired by the They Might Be Giants song “Put Your Hand Inside the Puppet Head,” I created this piece to capture the absurdity of the music video in a graphic, simplified style using as few colors as possible. The song, written and sung by John Flansburg, addresses his personal struggles with the monotony of a mind-numbing 9-5 job. Since he’s based in New York, I chose to include a tall building in the background to create a dynamic, intense atmosphere and dressed the main figure in a suit to evoke the sense of heading off to work.
